About BOA Training

Incorporating decades of real-world policing, operational deployment and nationally accredited training, BOA Training work in collaboration with host venues across London and the UK. Enhancing detection, deterrence and situational awareness capabilities with the ability to disrupt hostile individuals and criminality, we provide higher-level training in behavioural detection and counter terrorism.

Delivering specialist security personnel training, we support and contribute to your current security measures and strategies specific to your environment. We have previously worked alongside agencies such as the London Metropolitan Police, City of London Police, UK Border Force, Essex Police, Airpol, TSA and the FBI. Our current clients include large international security companies, law enforcement networks, iconic sites, arena venues, stadiums and shopping centres.

Joint founders of BOA Training with a combined 60 years of police service, Fiona and Darren are qualified Instructors and provided training to police forces across the UK in several security tactics on behalf of City of London Police and NPSA.

FBI and TSA trained, Fiona and Darren specialise in and deliver dynamic Behavioural Detection and Counter Terrorism training. This alongside being responsible for implementing training techniques piloted across Essex Police and The Metropolitan Police.

Fiona and Darren are personable professionals providing targeted insight reinforced with a vast understanding of the hostile mindset.

Hostile Reconnaissance and Security Awareness

Defined by NPSA as, “Purposeful observation with the intention of collecting information to inform the planning of a hostile act against a specific target”. This four-hour course will provide your reception staff and protective security resources with a greater understanding of hostile reconnaissance and security awareness. Highlighting security vulnerabilities it includes hostile identification, case studies, a tabletop exercise and reporting processes.

Behavioural Detection and Counter Terrorism Awareness

Tailored for reception staff and security personnel, this one-day course equips your team to identify potential threats and provides efficient conversational techniques for resolving situations. By incorporating insights into behavioural detection, counter-terrorism, hostile reconnaissance, insider threat and reporting processes, the training emphasises effective methods for detecting and preventing various forms of criminal activity, including protests and terrorism.

Behavioural Detection Officer and Counter Terrorism Course

This two-day course is designed for your security personnel to isolate and detect threats. Covering the meaning and importance of behavioural detection, the course also includes case studies, observational errors, hostile reconnaissance, detecting behavioural indicators, conversation strategies, tactics, reporting processes and exercises in situational awareness. Providing an insightful learning experience, knowledge and clarity, this course supports your security decisions and mitigates risk.

Behavioural Detection Specialist and Counter Terrorism Course

This course provides each element of the two-day Behavioural Detection Officer course, but is specifically aimed at equipping supervisors, team leaders and managers with the skills to identify individual site vulnerabilities. Enabling personnel to patrol and protect more efficiently, course participants will become familiar with briefing and decision-making models.

Behavioural Detection Officer and Counter Terrorism MRT/CPD

Intended as a follow-up course to refresh the skillset and knowledge base for security trained personnel who previously attended a two-day Behavioural Detection and Counter Terrorism course, this one-day course supports continued professional development. It includes updates surrounding recent events and changes to industry compliance, best practices and legislation.

Surveillance Courses

Standard Foot Surveillance Course

This course delivers bespoke content, concentrating on each element of close observation surrounding subjects, buildings and areas of interest. It encompasses teamwork requirements in order to secure covert operational objectives, including basic surveillance movement, hand signals, working with radios, public transport and counter surveillance activity. This training enables operatives to collaborate and build and deliver the intelligence picture of set goals. Our Standard Foot Surveillance Course is an accredited BTEC course, requiring student input and instructor assessment.

Advanced Foot Surveillance Course

This course covers each element of the Standard Foot Surveillance Course with additional modules relating to public transport, counter and anti-surveillance. It also includes basic observation post considerations, alongside implementing operational equipment including vehicles, cameras and recording devices. Our Advanced Foot Surveillance Course is an accredited BTEC course, requiring student input and instructor assessment.

Observation Posts

This course delivers comprehensive training to enable security personnel to conduct static observations from various locations. This includes buildings and vehicles in conjunction with specialised audio and visual recording equipment. Actively contributing to your security operations, this course delivers the skills to achieve your intelligence goals and meet your operational objectives.

Covert Rural Observation Post (CROPs) Training

This surveillance specialism is typically conducted in rural surroundings. Although it’s also utilised within urban environments, CROP involves the ability to blend into your surroundings while maintaining covert observations. This course delivers basic knowledge and requirement understanding, while incorporating the techniques and skills needed to rapidly deploy and establish observations. All designed to assist and support your operational objectives.
